Amelita Pascual Spear

Amelita Pascual Spear is a Program Director with Genesis LA, a community lending nonprofit where she develops and helps underwrite transactions, contributes to and oversees applications for capital sources that create jobs in low-income communities. Prior to Genesis LA, Ami was a capacity building and fund development consultant and raised over $4.7 million in funding for a range of economic, environmental and social justice organizations.  She also produced a documentary film on the impact of toxics and air pollution on communities of color.  In 1990, she founded the South Market (SoMa) Foundation, which she directed for almost 10 years. Ami was a founding member of the GABRIELA Network.  She received a Bachelors degree in English and American Literature from UCLA and a Masters in City and Regional Planning from UC Berkeley.
